Waypoint Royalty Free Image Generator

Stop paying for stock photos you cannot quite find. Generate royalty-free images with AI inside WordPress and save them straight to your media library as ordinary attachments — ready to set as a featured image, drop into a block, or use anywhere on the site.

There is no API key to paste in and no account to create. The plugin uses the AI provider your site is already connected to, through the AI client built into WordPress 7.0 itself. Your provider bills you directly, and nothing is routed through Waypoint's servers — the plugin has no endpoint of its own and makes no call to Waypoint Software under any configuration.

That is the whole structural argument. An image tool that holds your key is a subscription with a login attached. This one is a WordPress plugin, nothing more, and the images it produces are ordinary attachments in your own media library from the moment they exist.

Two front doors

Image Generator sits in the admin menu, for generating images whenever you need them. And a Generate tab appears in the media modal, beside Upload Files and Media Library — setting a featured image and nothing fits? Generate one without leaving the screen.

It knows what the post is about

Open the generator from a post and the description is filled in from that post's title and excerpt. That is the difference between this and a general-purpose image tool in another browser tab: one click gets you an image that matches what was actually written. The description stays editable before you generate.

Images that look like photographs, not clip art

Image models take style direction literally, and a vague prompt returns a cartoon. Every image is generated with a full brief naming lens, lighting, depth of field and palette, plus explicit instructions not to render text, captions, signage, logos, watermarks or borders — the things that make a generated image unusable as stock.

Alt text, written for you

Every generated image gets alt text describing what a reader would see, saved to the attachment and editable like any other image. The prompt that produced the image is saved with it too, so you can tell later which images you generated and how.

All free · no counter

Five looks and five shapes, all in the free edition.

Nothing here is metered. The free edition includes every look, every shape, alt text, prompt prefill from posts, and the media modal tab.

Looks

Style direction, written for you

Pick a look, or write your own brief with Custom.

  • Photographic — realistic photos
  • Editorial illustration — drawn, magazine style
  • Flat vector — geometric, product-marketing
  • 3D render — soft shapes, studio lighting
  • Product photo — studio sweep, catalogue lighting
  • Custom — your own style brief
Shapes

Framed for where it goes

Each shape is composed for its slot, not cropped into it.

  • Featured image — 16:9
  • Hero banner — 21:9, composed with clear space for a headline and exposed to stay readable under a dark overlay
  • Square — 1:1 for social and grids
  • Portrait — 4:5 for sidebars
  • Natural — let the model frame it

What “royalty-free” means here.

In the sense that matters day to day: no stock licence to buy, no per-use royalty, no attribution line to place, and no expiry. Use the images on the site and elsewhere, including commercially.

Two caveats, stated plainly. First, those rights come from the terms of the AI provider your site is connected to, not from this plugin — if commercial redistribution matters to you, read that provider's terms. Second, in the United States an image generated purely by AI is generally not eligible for copyright. Nobody is charging you for it, but you may not be able to stop others using a similar image either.

Some providers embed an invisible provenance watermark in the images they generate. That is the provider's doing; this plugin neither adds nor removes it.

Stock subscription vs. generated in place

The honest competitor is a stock photo plan.

A stock library is a collection someone else shot, rented to you by the month. This is an image made for the post you just wrote, kept in your media library whether or not you keep paying us.

Free vs Pro

A feature split, not a counter.

The free edition is not metered and the paid edition is not metered either. There is no volume cap anywhere, and there never will be. Pro adds three things.

Saved style presets

Store a named look so every image on the site belongs to the same set. Backfilling missing images is a job you do once; keeping every new image looking like it belongs to the same publication recurs for as long as the site publishes. A preset is what turns “I generated some images” into “our images have a house style.”

Fill missing featured images

Generate a featured image for every post that does not have one, in a single background run.

Variants

Generate several images from one description — up to four — and pick the one you want.

The free edition contains no paid code at all: the Pro features are absent from that download, not switched off in it.

Pricing

One Pro edition, three billing terms.

Identical features on all three. A 7-day free trial on the two subscription terms; Lifetime has no trial.

What generation costs

Each image is a billed call against the AI provider your site is connected to, at that provider's rates. This plugin does not resell generation, does not mark it up, and never sees the transaction. “Royalty-free” describes the licence, not the price.

Questions we actually get.

Do I need an API key?

No. The plugin uses the AI client built into WordPress 7.0 and the provider your site is already connected to. There is no key field because there is nothing for it to hold.

Does this send anything to your servers?

No. Generation happens between your site and its own AI provider. The plugin has no endpoint of its own and makes no call to Waypoint Software.

Why does it need WordPress 7.0?

That is the release that added the core AI client. Requiring it is what lets the plugin work without asking for a key.

It says no image model is available. What now?

Your site either has no AI provider connected, or the connected provider offers only text models. Connect a provider that supports image generation, then reload the generator screen.

Where do the images go?

Into the media library, as ordinary attachments. Deactivate the plugin and the images stay where they are.

Can I edit the alt text?

Yes, like any other image.

Does uninstalling delete my images?

No. Uninstalling removes the plugin's settings only.

What does it require?

WordPress 7.0 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. Current plugin version 1.0.0.
